Supported by the Swedish Embassy, the ÖSG (Austrian Swedisch Society) celebrates the traditional Midsommarfest.  We are looking forward to meeting a lot of old and young guests!

Die isländische Künstlerin Linda B. Steinthórsdóttir erkundet mit dem spanischen Tonkünstler Enrique Tomas und dem österreichischen Fotografen Johann Wimmer ihre entlegene Heimatinsel Island. Der Ausstellungstitel “skafrenningur og slydda” kann aus dem Isländischen mit Schneeverwehungen und Schneeregen übersetzt werden. Es handelt sich um Naturphänomene, welche von ruhiger Schönheit bis zur energiegeladenen Spannung reichen und nach einer genaueren Betrachtung verlangen.

Linda Björk Steinþórsdóttir, icelandic artist, born 1968, study in Salzburg, Austria, lives and works for 16 years in Linz. The spatula technique works of Linda B. Steinthórsdóttir are abstract and minimalist. During light change the relief-like structures begin to head a life of its own, are subject to transformation. Also the diversity of Iceland’s nature is for Linda Steinthórsdóttir again and again a resource of inspiration and omnipresent in her works. She uses various materials from her home country, as for example ash from the eruption of the volcano “Eyjafjallajökull”.
