Prior to the school year 2016-17 the Swedish school in Vienna has free places for students in elementary and preschool, and as well for children in kindergarten.

The elementary school for grades 1-6 are operated in Swedish and it focuses on students with connection to the Nordic countries. Their pre-school is for students who will the year after either start in first grade at Volkschule or here in the Swedish School. The Kindergarten is bilingual and for children with all nationalities. The Swedish School operation is in a villa in Grinzing in 19th district with two new nice playgrounds and close to the nature.
