Fotography from Island at the “CC & AT ReMIX 2017″

The Austro-Islandic Society invites you to the exhibition “CC & AT ReMIX 2017″ from 8th to 10th March, where you can admire great Island photographs from the Austrian photographers Lisi Niesner and Georg Hochmuth. The Opening takes place on 8th March at 6 p.m. in the Gallery ARTOPIA in Wiedner Hauptstrasse 46 (1040 Vienna). Welcome!

We discovered these pieces during the day, found them again in the darkness and set a proper light. The pieces are unaltered and natural but still abstract because location and size are unknown and could be random. The photographs from Iceland are not a classic photo-story, they rather describe the defining elements of iceland: Stone, ice and fire. Point of time and lighting were crucial for the series of images. During the day the places are visited by numerous tourists but at night they are lonely. Impermanence and timelessness are basic characters of the photos: Rock, which seems to last forever and ice, which can be melted away tomorrow. They indicate the contrast of Iceland.
